The Autumn Season

Closings this month:

  • Tuesday, November 11th, 2008: Veteran's Day.
  • Thursday, November 27th, 2008: Thanksgiving Day. (We will open again on Friday at regular hours.)

November is a wonderful month to visit the library. It's a bit chilly out, and we have plenty of heat in the building! Anyways, we have plenty of cookbooks to give you an idea of what to make for Thanksgiving this year.

Special Program Highlights this month:

Pottery Class with Pat Brintle for Adults
Saturday, November 15th @ 2:30pm

Professinal, Haitian-born artist Patricia Brintle will teach:

  • General informatioin on clay
  • Handbuilding methods (pinch, coil, score and slip)
  • Parts of a vase (mouth, neck, body, foot)
  • Firing process and terminiology (bisque, greenware, oxidation, etc.)
  • Decorative techniques and terms (glaze, sgraffito, stamping, etc.)
  • Optional decoratio using acrylic paint

Clay is air-dry and participants will take their work home. All supplies will be provided. Space is limited, preregistration is required. Call the library for registration today!
